We have something wonderful happening here in Sedona.  It’s called Winter Feast for the Soul.  Basically, it is a way to set your intention for a peaceful 2012.  Everyone gathers to meditate on peace for forty minutes on 40 days then pledges to continue daily on their own for the entire year.  The Dalai Lama has endorsed this as a practice.  He says humanity will be at peace when enough individuals choose to make peace a part of their spiritual practice.

Valerie Skonie, from Hailey, Idaho, founded this event after contemplating Rumi’s three line poem,

“What nine months does for the embryo

40 early mornings

will do for your growing awareness.”

This event will continue here, and many places all year, yet you can add your own peaceful meditation from the comfort of your own home every morning.  You can hook into the major flow of energy that is encompassing our world.  We are the change we want to see.  As Valerie Skonie says, “Now, it is our turn to participate in this shift and not look to our spiritual leaders to do it for us.”

I am pledging to sing for peace 40 minutes a day all year.  That is my true joy and gift.  As Picasso said, “The meaning of life is to find your gift and the purpose of life is to give it away.”

So, think about what you want to see, feel, touch, hear and think in this powerful year of 2012.  What is your gift? Could it be you? What can you give away? Love? Please visualize and create love for yourself, others and the planet.  You are the gift!  Embrace your own sweetness on this Christmas morn!
